LIST OF GARAWAY WOF INDUCTEES

PURPOSE:
To honor/recognize individuals and teams who have contributed to Garaway athletics.
ELIGIBILITY:
The Garaway Athletic Wall of Fame will recognize the following groups:
Garaway Graduates for their athletic achievements while a student at Garaway or prior to the 1960 consolidation and/or athletic achievements/accomplishments after graduation from the district (i.e. collegiate, professional, etc.)
Garaway Alumni who coached at the high school, college, or professional level
Garaway Coaches who may or may not be alumni of the school district.
Contributors to Garaway athletic programs, whether alumni or not.
Individuals currently coaching at Garaway are not eligible for consideration under the criteria of “Coaches.” They must be out of coaching and in the case of a Garaway staff member - retired from the district.
Current Garaway athletes or teams are not eligible for consideration.
NOMINATION and SELECTION:
Recommendation of Candidates for Consideration
A nomination form will be available on the district website. Anyone can be recommended for Wall of Fame consideration by the general public based on the eligibility criteria outlined above. All nominations must be accompanied with cited proof of candidacy (newspaper, yearbook, records, etc) as well as the approval of the current head coach of the nominated sport. Approved nominations will result in a candidate’s referral to the Selection Committee, as described below. Nominations must be received no later than February 1st of each year.
Selection Committee Process
The Selection Committee will select eligible teams and individuals for inclusion to the Wall of Fame. The selection committee will vote on induction.
INDUCTION:
All candidates to be inducted will be notified of their selection. A date or dates will be chosen based on time available at either a Garaway football game or basketball game, or both, to honor the inductees.
COMMITTEE MAKE-UP
Garaway Athletic Hall of Fame Selection Committee:
Garaway Administrator(s), Board Member(s), or both
Garway Coaches (including the nominated sport)
Community Member(s) or Staff Member(s), or both
The committee must add up to an odd number in case of a tie.
Selection:
Committee will review all nominations by confirming achievements (may request input from the person nominating the athlete/team), reviewing character history, and considering any other contributing information
The selection committee will make the final call on all inductees
Inductees will be invited to attend a recognition ceremony at a Garaway athletic event.
