Garaway Local Schools AC Feasibility Study

Garaway Local Schools AC Feasibility Study Highlights

 Date: September 11, 2024

Introduction: In response to requests from our community, students, and staff, Garaway Local Schools conducted an extensive engineering study to explore the feasibility of installing air conditioning systems in our classrooms. This initiative aims to enhance comfort and the learning environment during hot months.

 Key Findings:

  1. Proposed AC System: Recommends ductless split systems for independent temperature control.

  2. Electrical System Upgrades: Significant upgrades are required for all buildings to support new AC units.

  3. Building Automation System (BAS) Upgrade: Replacement of the current system with a modern, flexible solution.

  4. Estimated Costs: Total construction cost between $6.3M and $6.4M, with annual operating costs around $27,744.

Conclusion:  Due to the significant financial investment, we are unable to do this project.  It has been determined that the cost does not justify the benefits given the district's current maintenance needs and operational priorities.

Stay tuned for more buildings and grounds updates and thank you for your continued support!
